Starting on Sunday, May 17, and going through Sunday, May 31, Cornerstone is asking each family to give an extra $40 to help those in need.
How will we use the $40?
- $20 will go to our mission partner in India, Central India Christian Mission (CICM).
It takes a little over $20 to feed a family of 5 for a month. There are 440 million people in India that live off of a $1.50 a day and right now they are without work. With our giving, CICM will be able to help several families in their community who are unable to work because of the coronavirus.
- $20 will go toward feeding families in the O’Fallon and Shiloh area through our summer lunch delivery program, which begins June 1st. The need for meals is expected to increase significantly from last year. So, Cornerstone is committing to purchase, prepare, package, and deliver no less than 5,000 meals. Additionally, Cornerstone is working in partnership with schools, other local churches, and the YMCA to ensure that 25,000 meals are prepared and delivered to families across 6 area school districts. In total, it costs $1.25 to provide one meal.
Each weekend Cornerstone has approximately 550 households watching our services online. What we are asking is that every family participates by giving $40 to the Cornerstone CARES FUND. 100% of donations will go to serve those in need, both in our community and in India. If every family gives $40, we would be able to ensure that 7,200 meals are purchased, packaged, and delivered to kids in Shiloh and O’Fallon all summer, and we would feed 600 families in India for an entire month.
