A Note From Chris - September 23, 2021

Colossians 3:15 - “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

I’m reminded, once again this week, of this passage that I touched on last weekend in the message. It is not a suggestion, but a command that we let the peace of Christ rule. That is so challenging because so many other things intend to rule in our hearts each day: stress, money issues, the kids, the ex-husband, COVID, unknowns about the future, etc. None of those things are to rule; only the peace of Christ.

I am encouraged and uplifted for the season ahead, and so thankful to be a part of a body of Christ that regularly and firmly sets its sails on the mission ahead, not on what is behind us.

Week 1 of At the Movies was a success! Thanks to all who brought folks with them. Remember, this is a great series to invite family and friends to join you as we are spending about ½ the time in the sermon on clips and the other ½ on bringing Biblical truth out of the movie. Plus, you get popcorn, which I am most certain is of God.

Cornerstone Anywhere was a bit of a struggle with Week 1 of At the Movies. Due to copyright laws, we were booted from a couple of feeds during service. While we believe we are legally in the clear to show clips, the algorithms got the best of us. So, this week we will be showing the message without attaching the clips. It’s not ideal, but if you are zealous, you can watch the clips online afterwards to see the parts we are discussing. This week, Cathy Wright and I are discussing the movie, Unbroken.

If you are local but still joining us online, this is a GREAT time to make the transition back to in-person worship. The experience online simply is not the same, and I have people every week returning who are glad they did. Hope to see you at church!

This weekend, our O’Fallon Campus will be adjusting its weekend service times to 9:00am and 10:30am.
  • 9:00am – Volunteer service for those who are serving at the later service.
  • 10:30am – Full programming service with Cornerstone Kids, Middle School programming, and adult worship.

The O’Fallon Campus recently welcomed Taylar Knight, our new worship leader! We are excited about the leadership she brings to the O’Fallon team. If you are in O’Fallon or would like to be a part of serving and growing this campus this Fall, make an effort to join them!

Yours & His,
Chris VandeLinde
