Our elders at Cornerstone serve as leaders who help provide guardrails for our church.
On a highway, the guardrails don’t concern themselves with which cars are on the road
or which lane they are in. However, they are critical to making sure cars don’t drive over
a cliff or up a mountain not appropriate for them. They also follow the direction of the
road and make sure the traffic is heading the right direction. That is what our elders do.
Elders are selected from within our church each year to serve in a very specific
volunteer role to be spiritual leaders to help guide us as a church. Each year, some
elders complete their three year term and new elders are brought on. This year, we
thank Dave Watson, Lance Guthrie, and Rob Lowe for their past three years of service
and welcome three new elders for a one year initial term that could be up to three years.
Below are the three who have agreed to be considered this year. While elders do not
always serve in a visible role in our church, their leadership is critical. They are
effectively on a one month probationary period to allow the church to raise concerns if
there is a reason they should not be elders. If you have any concerns with any of these
three, please talk to an elder or email elders@onecornerstone.org. These three leaders
already faithful serve our church, and I am excited to serve alongside them in this role in
2023. Please be praying for them as they step into a leadership role - that they may be
filled with faith and God’s wisdom as they serve and lead.

My wife Jody, daughter Madison and I have been attending Cornerstone for 3-4 years. I'm both excited and humbled by this opportunity to serve the people of Cornerstone. I believe that everything in life comes according to Gods plan, not ours. With this knowledge, accepting this new role enables me with the opportunity to continually grow and develop my personal relationship with Him and humbly lead His people.
I work at AT&T as a power technician out of Collinsville, Illinois. I serve on the greeting team and enjoy sports, hunting, fishing and warm weather (except for Christmas, then snow is good too)!

My wife Sherriale and I have been attending Cornerstone for approximately the last 2 years since we moved to Illinois. We are blessed with two twin 3-year-old daughters and a 15 month old son. I am currently on a long-term journey to become a disciple like the New Testament describes and to lead others into disciple ship with me.
I work at Charles Schwab as a broker, and I enjoy playing drums on the worship team, watching movies, reading and listening to podcasts.

My wife JoAnn and I have been serving Cornerstone in a variety of roles for 20 years, and I have been blessed to serve as an elder multiple times before. We have a daughter Katie and a son Matthew, along with four grandkids. I am retired and full time grandpa, and I enjoy sports and jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with my grandkids.
I love the Lord and am trying to glorify His name in all I do. I desire that others find salvation in Jesus Christ our Lord.
“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”
