A Note From Chris - July 7, 2022

This week we are blessed to have a guest writer for the Note.
Our Worship Minister, Ben Browning shares some thoughts.

Hey, church! Praying that you’re experiencing a blessed week wherever you are. It’s a joy to hop on here and encourage you today. Because I will use any opportunity given to encourage you around the power of worship.

Any given week (or day) can be full of the crazy highs and lows of everyday life. One of my favorite things about the power of worship is the way it shifts my focus. Worries, fears, doubts, discouragement, and disappointment will rule the day if I let them. BUT, when I choose to drown out those things with the promises of God, my perspective shifts. Worship draws my attention off of me and on to God. You better believe I belt out a song of worship driving down the road just like I would on a Sunday morning. God is more than willing to meet with us in these moments when we draw near to Him. Anytime, anyplace.

We’ve started singing a new song around Cornerstone lately - Firm Foundation by Cody Carnes/Maverick City. It’s been such a life giving reminder to me lately. Check out the lyrics...

“Christ is my firm foundation. The rock on which I stand. When everything around me is shaken. I've never been more glad. That I put my faith in Jesus. 'Cause He's never let me down. He's faithful through generations. So why would He fail now. He won't. I've still got joy in chaos. I've got peace that makes no sense. So I won't be going under. I'm not held by my own strength. ‘Cause I've built my life on Jesus. He's never let me down. He's faithful in every season. So why would He fail now. He won't. He won't fail. Rain came and wind blew. But my house was built on You. I'm safe with You. I'm going to make it through. Christ is my firm foundation. The rock on which I stand. When everything around me is shaken. I've never been more glad. That I put my faith in Jesus. 'Cause He's never let me down. He's faithful through generations. So why would He fail now. He won't.”

Those words get me every time. Because no matter what, Christ is the safest and sturdiest place I know. In a world full of change, we worship a God who is constant through every change. He is faithful and steadfast. He walks with us through best days and worst days...and all the in between. He never fails.

Psalm 61:1-5 says... “Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe. I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings. For you, God, have heard my vows; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.”

So, keep pushing back against the noise of life with the promises of God. He is with you and for you. I pray you experience more of His goodness as you choose to worship Him every single day.

See you Sunday!
Ben
