Recently a friend said, “We just booked our trip to Jamaica!” When I asked when this summer they were going, they said, “Oh, no it’s in 2023.” Wow!
It reminded me that it is not too soon to be thinking and planning for how you and your family will engage spiritually this summer and beyond. If we don’t get the building blocks of spiritual growth and church community built in from the beginning, they tend to get passed over when other commitments come. Here are a few things to think through and plan on as you are solidifying summer plans:
Our Family Ministry summer calendar is live here. You can sign up for camps and calendar all of the events happening between now and the fall for your family.
Cornerstone Kids – various weeks of church camp are open for registration, and multiple events are scheduled for families in lieu of our midweek program, Kids Club.
Our Upgrade party for rising 6th graders is May 25th and so helpful in bridging kids to 6th grade both at church and in life.
Don’t miss out on sending your kid to camp. Like many of you, church camp was formative in my early faith, and our team believes it is still a critical and helpful part of spiritual growth for our kids. You can find all the kid stuff here.
Middle School Ministry – Our crew is headed together to a week this summer at Oil Belt Camp July 24-30th.
High School Ministry – Cornerstone is taking a group to camp with CIY (Christ In Youth) in Northwest Arkansas for an incredible and memorable week July 18-22nd.
Many are already registered for both, but registration is still open and scholarships are available for those in need of financial assistance.
In addition, multiple summer events have been scheduled. You can find all of the Student Ministry events and camps on the Events tab here.
55+ Camp – If you are a kid at heart but slightly older in age, there is an event called “Senior Saints in the Smokies” in East TN at Johnson University to check out as well! (details here)
Many of our groups and studies pause for the summer. Taking a deep breath and creating rhythms is right and healthy. However, there are opportunities to connect with groups and various studies this summer coming soon as well.
We are booked for a trip to Israel February 18-28, 2023. More to come later, but if you are interested in potentially attending, please reply to this email!
This weekend, we will cover part 2 of our “Help Me Understand” series talking about the reliability of the Bible. Thankfully, it’s very reliable. I’ll tackle that from an angle that is hopefully both helpful and clear for believers and skeptics alike. See you Sunday!
